Tomaschek: Goethe Lieder

tomaschek

KS Ildikó Raimondi has reissued the extremely rare and for decades lost, the first and only original prints of Wenzel Tomascheks 41 Goethe-Lieder from the archives of the Society of the Friends of Music in Vienna. Since the mid-19th century these songs went unnoticed and only recently attracted attention again. They deserve, however, to be sung and heard often.

The idea was to republish the extremely rare and lost over many decades, the first and only original prints of Wenzel Tomaschek’s 41 Goethe-Lieder after the copy from the archives of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. The songs from this important Czech composer, from around 1800, will be made widely available in a reprographic Reprint with scientific commentary. Tomaschek played the songs to Goethe, who received them with great approval in 1822 in Eger. Since the mid-19th century these songs went unnoticed and only recently attracted attention again. They deserve however, to be sung and heard often.
